Running Schedule: Day 1
Today was my first day on the previously posted schedule. It was 3 miles. I thought I would be smart and run it kind of fast. Not so smart. Anyways, my 1.5 mile splits were 13:11 and 13:36. I ran from the Sportsplex to the footbridge on the Greenway.
Biscuit Recipe
I'm not so good at from scratch biscuits. In fact mine usually don't have much taste.
I've thought of it off and on but kept forgetting to search the internet for Cracker Barrel biscuit recipe. I'm going to try this one next time I can think of it.

I called the Serra dealership in Decatur. They didn't have any in stock but he gave me a number to call. It is Toyota's material management site. The number is 1-800-622-2033. The owners manual is only $16 but with shipping will be $24.09. I was totally shocked that it didn't cost like $50-$75.
It is currently back-ordered but will ship in 4-6 weeks.

3-mile run today
Went for a run about 3:30. It was brutally hot. My goal was a solid 3 miles (twice around the track). After the first circuit and walked for a short stint but I picked back up running. My time was 27:04 (about 9 minute miles).
Early morning run
I started my run this morning @ 6:30. I didn't want to be in the afternoon heat. Heat index is supposed to be about 104 today.
My run was 4.5 miles in 44 minute. Felt pretty good. I didn't really struggle like I did the last run.
I carried a water bottle for the first time. Maybe having a bit of water helped me out.

Purchased a Toyota Corolla today. It is a 2009 and it had 10k miles.
I got to Carmax about 9:30. I thought the web site said they opened at 9am but I had read the wrong line. On Saturdays they open at 9am, 10am during the week. I sat and waited in the service center.
I walked into the sales area about 9:55. I had about 3 people just look right past me. Doyle walked by and asked if I had been waited on. Doyle was the winner because he took the initiative to ask.
I test drove the car and was convinced. I was there until about 12:30.

5k Training Schedule
There is a beginners schedule at this page.
Finally, the pre-training schedule. You should be able to run this schedule for four to five weeks without much discomfort before starting the 5K program. If not, give yourself some time to build up to that level gradually, or you may risk injury.
The schedule
The schedule peaks at about 20 miles per week. If you prefer metric distances, use our distance-conversion calculator to convert to kilometers.
Fartlek
It's true: fartlek is almost as fun to do as it is to say. Fartlek is Swedish for speed play and consists of bursts of speed in the middle of a training run. Essentially, it's an unstructured interval session, the track without the rules. Fartlek gets your legs used to a variety of paces and in the process gives you an enhanced awareness of your ability to keep up those paces at various distances.

Site to track running
Eric sent me this site, http://www.logyourrun.com/, which seems to be a really good site to help track your running.
I have used it just a bit this morning and it is comparable to dailymile.com.

I asked Genoa earlier if she thought it would be a wise use of money to take out a chunk from Edward Jones to put towards a reliable third car. She said she thought it would. I don't know just how smart it would be.
Anyways, I quoted a Progressive policy change (switching the sable out with a VW Rabbit). The change would be an increase of $162 over six months.
Currently carmax.com has a VW Rabbit in Huntsville. 2008 with 3200 miles. The price seems high, $15,599, but it's a cool looking car.
